About — the duo

Two heads, one drum bus.

Hey — we're Liam and Philip. We started Loop in a bedroom with one interface and too many ideas. Five years later it's a real room, but the rule hasn't changed: if it doesn't make us nod on the first loop, it doesn't leave the building.

I live in the low end. Trap, drill, anything with an 808 that rattles the rear-view — that's my lane. I start with drums almost every time, and I won't move on until the groove already feels like a song with nothing else on it.

Before Loop I was making pads for free on the internet at 2am. Now I get to do it with Philip catching the melodies I'd never think of. Best trade I ever made.

I'm the melody guy. Keys, chords, the little vocal hook you can't shake. I love a pop record that sounds effortless and an R&B cut that feels like 1am. If Liam builds the engine, I'm the one deciding where the car's going.

I came up playing piano in church and never stopped chasing that one chord that makes your chest tighten. Half my job here is knowing when a track is done — and the other half is talking Liam out of adding a sixth hi-hat layer.

Together we finish what most people leave at 80%.

The handoff is where records usually die — a beat goes to one person, vocals to another, mix to a stranger, and the spark leaks out at every step. We don't do that. From the first voice memo to the master that hits streaming, it's the two of us in one room. That's the whole pitch, and it's the reason it sounds like us.
